Interview:
TAVI Latam:-How would you describe Mimyuni Media Entertainment’s current portfolio on a global level?
Dey:-It’s an innovative young TV company founded in 2015. It was created with the purpose of offering the global market new TV channels that make a difference as to format and content. Before its creation, extensive research on viewers throughout the world was conducted by Mimyuni Media Group, to which the company is related. Nowadays we distribute 40 TV channels, including music, sports, movies, children and lifestyle focused channels.
TAVI Latam:-How many of these channels offer 4K resolution? Which are them? Are all of them available in Latin America?
Dey:-Now we have five 4K channels, all of which are available for global distribution, including Latin America. They are Chillayo 4K, Party’s 4K, Wow 4K, Pet & Pal 4K, Speed Factor 4K. Our plan is to launch two new channels between the end of this year and early 2020, but we cannot reveal their names yet.
TAVI Latam:-What is the focus for Latin America?
Dey:-We pay close attention to what Latin American viewers seek to watch. We are especially interested in the type of content viewers would like to watch that is not available. Content focus is chosen according to the data monthly collected from Latin American countries by Mimyuni Research Audience, a related company that gathers information directly from more than 5 thousand families in each country. In Latin America, our channels are being tested by several operators, with which we are conducting negotiations.
TAVI Latam:-Which are the main channels expected to expand their distribution next year?
Dey:-Lolly Kids TV. It is already distributed throughout the world, including the Latin market. It’s the first children-focused music channel in the world. Its aim is to provide support to musically gifted children aged 5–16. That’s why this channel is offered to operators for free. All the other children-focused channels turn kids into passive viewers. Lolly Kids TV invites all children to sing, to dance and to play musical instruments. Another channel that is worth mentioning is Chillayo, which was created to cure stress, reduce tension and relax the nervous system.
TAVI Latam:-Can you anticipate any news for 2020?
Dey:-Next year we will keep expanding our portfolio by launching four new channels in order to enrich our offer. The information about these channels will remain confidential until the launch date.
TAVI Latam:-What is, in your opinion, Mimyuni’s position with regard to upcoming market challenges such as OTT platforms and 4K content?
Dey:– We create our TV channels in order to help telecommunications operators in all their platforms: OTT, IPTV, DTH, mobile or cable. Content is intended to be powerful and spectacular in order to succeed. Our company is Business-to-Business oriented (Editor’s note: commercial relationship between businesses, as opposed to direct relationship between businesses and consumers). As regards 4K, we hold the first position in the whole world because we are already offering a package of five 4K channels and, if we consider the two channels we are about to add, our 4K package will include seven channels. This is a constantly changing and growing market and the prices of 4K TV sets have been decreasing lately, which makes it possible for more and more families to afford them.
